Amazonas: Pampa Entsa requests help for school damage caused by wind and rain
On a campus with 168 students, three classrooms have been left unoccupied and the children are unable to attend classes.
Due to recent heavy rainfall and high winds, three classrooms in the Pampa Entsa primary school, located in Cenepa district, Province of Condorcanqui, Amazon region, were rendered unusable.
The families in this Amazonian community have demanded that the Regional Authorities and Education Sector intervene urgently to fix the damages and ensure the service of education.
Isaac Antuash, director of affected school said, “To continue their education, the students have had to move into the municipal facilities in the center of town since the classrooms were not usable.”
The director of Pampa Entsa sent an urgent appeal to the Ministry of Education as well as the Regional Governor of Amazonas on behalf of the residents of Pampa Entsa. “However, we still haven’t received the attention required.”
Parents contacted the authorities after the weather event was observed on September 10th. The primary school has 168 pupils.
Winds and rain also caused damage to several houses in the center of town. In addition, the wind and rain damaged the roofs of classrooms as well as some walls.
