Santa Barbara, on the central coast of California, could see 1 to 2 inchs of rain.
Los Angeles can receive up to one inch of rainfall.
Urban flooding can occur anywhere from Redding to Santa Barbara.
Larson says the storm is expected to subside by Sunday. However, another system will be hitting the state Monday.
He said, “Here’s another one.” It’s like two punches in one.
In a press release, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department stated that thirteen deaths in California are currently being investigated. Eight of these may be related to icy conditions which ravaged parts of California in late February or early March.
The sheriff’s department reports that one weather-related fatality occurred in the early storms. This victim died after a severe car crash during the storm.
Eight deaths were under investigation as of Friday.
The news release stated that “the conditions observed on the scene appeared to not be related to weather.”
Midwest storms can dump 6 to 10 inches of snow in Milwaukee, Chicago and Detroit.
The storm will hit the Midwest Friday before moving on to the east, across Pennsylvania and New York.
In some areas of Pennsylvania and New York, there could be 3 to 6 inches of snow.
New York City may have only an inch or less of snow.
Larson says the storm is expected to bring rain primarily to Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
As a result, there will be rain and some snow in the Northeast this Friday. In parts of Connecticut and Maine on Saturday, the chance of snow is higher.
Rain and thunderstorms are possible starting on Friday in Arkansas, Tennessee and southern Kentucky. This could extend into the Carolinas.
Storms in northern Arkansas could bring temperatures below freezing, with hail or damaging winds.
