The road was littered with debris from the church, and a powerline had also been brought down by the falling of the debris.

We take a look at the Calvary Church, located in Cleveland. The church has served the city since 1880.

The National Weather Service of Cleveland confirmed that the damage caused by this tornado was the result.

Senior pastor Kellie Sulley said, “It’s hard to see our church like this.”

Sullivan reported that she had received a call from Cleveland Police just after one in the morning Friday. The initial thought was that lightning may have caused the damages, but a closer look at the cameras showed that it was the wind that did the damage, which included a fallen tree leaning against the church.

“I am so happy that this happened when nobody was around,” Sullivan stated. Because you could have anywhere between newborns and sixth graders plus adults who would have been with them.

Sullivan refers to the area where the roof blew away as “youth Church.” She also said that people often sleep or rest in the parking lot of the church or under the awning at night.

She said, “I don’t know why God didn’t let them go last night.”

She said that they would now begin to speak with their insurer as well as Cleveland City, who will be required to inspect the structure of the building.

Chris Kamis said, “My heart sank.” He is the president of Absolute Roofing and Construction. On Friday, the crews from the company were at the church to assess the damage.

Kamis stated that the machine not only removed the roof shingles, but also the decking and rafters, both of which are structural. This is a major problem.

Kamis stated that it may take several months to fix the roof of the church.

Kamis stated that it was heartbreaking. This is the place where they worship. It’s an extremely important church. An extremely significant building. And it is worth repairing and renovating.

Sullivan told reporters that she had spoken with members of the Church’s Board of Elders and they all agreed to continue moving forward.

They were very optimistic and hopeful. “Every single one said that they would rebuild”, she added. It just touched my heart that every single person said they were going to rebuild. We won’t give up. “This is our test.”

Sullivan stated that the church provides resources to the community, such as a clothing closet, scholarship programs, and hot meal distributions. The church still plans to distribute hot meals on Friday, even though the building was damaged.

She is now asking the community for support and prayers, as well as donations to the church.

Early Friday morning, the police closed Euclid Ave. and East 79th Street as a precaution.

The storms left many thousands without electricity on Friday morning.

As we approach the weekend, weather is expected to be calmer.

Hollie Strano , 3News’ meteorologist, explains that it won’t be quite as hot today. We’re going to slowly clear. There are still a few showers left, but it’s not severe weather yet.
