Vandalism against private delivery drivers and cargo trucks is a common occurrence.
This morning, students wearing hoods and carrying Molotov Cocktails, along with carrying sticks or a broom, committed various vandalism acts in Tuxtla Gutierrez.
Two delivery trucks and a loading truck were blocked by the alleged students on Central Street, Herradura Street and the Albania Alta neighbourhood.
The students then took one driver inside to the State Higher Normal School. They held him there for a few minutes before letting him go.
Delivery units were looted, vandalized and left in the streets.
Security units were sent to secure the area immediately. A unit of emergency personnel was also dispatched to help the victims.
Two hours later, Mactumactza Normal School students traveled with sticks and rockets in cargo vans to the western entry of the city known as La Pochota. They always had their faces covered. They remained there for several minutes, maintaining a complete blockade.
The normalistas, while heading to the centre of the city, stopped two fuel-filled tanker vehicles, along with private cars, which they then took to their school, located in the north west of Tuxtla Gutierrez.
Due to the intensity of this pseudo-students’ mobilization, elements of anti-riot from the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection of Chiapas appeared in the middle of the city. Normalistas protested and blocked the center of Chiapas for several minutes.
The normalistas finally retreated from the park central, taking with them the units they had retained. It is not known at this point if the taken vehicles were returned.
